Stretching out like a long, yellow snake is the famous 90 Mile Beach. Long, slender sand dunes- a natural barrier - divide the Ocean of Bass Strait from the Gippsland Lakes; a natural barrier.
Walk to the beach from Lakes Entrance, accessing the wooden footbridge in town and spend the day frolicking in the surf, with lifeguards on hand. You can reach the beach by boat also, from many of the Gippsland Lakes villages dotted around the shore. Pull your boat up on the lakeshore & walk through protected Coastal Park to feel salty sea wind on your face. As some of the beach is within coastal and Marine National Park, chances of spotting diverse land & sea creatures are high.
Stand on the beach and take in the coastline as it disappears into the wonderful salty sea spray in the distance. Yours might be the only footprints in the sand that day.
