The Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) is proud to be 'Bringing the Christmas Spirit back to Bairnsdale'. Amongst a range of festive activities that are on offer in Bairnsdale during the Christmas period, the major event is of course the Bairnsdale Community Christmas Parade, which will be held along the Main Street on Saturday November 29th, from 11:30am until 12:30pm. In what is sure to be an exciting experience for young and old alike, the parade will include display floats and marching teams, comprising local community groups and organisations, businesses and government authorities. The parade will be full of noise and colour, with local emergency services taking part, merry musical entertainment and performers and naturally the 'star of the show', Santa! The Bairnsdale Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is sending out a warm welcome to everyone in Eastern Gippsland, to come up to Bairnsdale City for a great day of fun and festivity. We invite you to celebrate Christmas with us, share in the spirit and perhaps find a bargain or two... Merry Christmas Everyone!

CYCLE & RAIL TRAIL

Whether it is a couple of relaxing hours or a few days of peddle power, the true delights of East Gippsland are easy to experience by bike. The East Gippsland Rail Trail represents 100km approximately of cycling pleasure on a disused rail way corridor. Ride through quaint villages, gorgeous countryside and rolling hills from Bairnsdale to Marlo.

Local flora and fauna are a natural and frequent sight on this trail. Spectacular sights from old railway bridges will become photo opportunities. Plan a bike ride and spend some days leisurely cycling and stopping off in beautiful accommodation or villages along the way. Apart from the Rail Trail, many other cycling tracks exist in towns along the waterfront or rivers. Some are dual purpose, for walking or car use, so be careful.

Recently appointed chief executive officer of Destination Gippsland Limited, Terry Robinson recently visited East Gippsland to have his first official look around the region. Mr Robinson said the visit had been most useful to discuss tourism issues with industry, local government and land managers. “It was also a delight to experience some of the East Gippsland’s wonderful tourism assets.” He said. During his visit Mr Robinson met with represen tatives of East Gippsland Shire, Parks Victoria, Department of Sustainability and Environment and members of East Gippsland Regional Business and Tourism Association. Shire director corporate and economic development John Websdale said the Shire was pleased with Mr Robinson’s appointment to Destination Gippsland Limited and looked forward to working closely with him over the next three years. “He brings high level skills in tourism, particularly from his former role as Operations Manger with Phillip Island Nature Park as well as his current membership of the Board of Tourism Alliance Victoria,” he said. Chair of East Gippsland Regional Business and Tourism Association and East Gippsland Shire Tourism Advisory Board and member of the East Gippsland Marketing Board, Adrian Bromage also welcomed the visit. “We are confident Mr Robinson will be impressed with the quality of tourism destinations and products in East Gippsland and the commitment of operators not only for tourism in our own region but also across Gippsland as a whole,” he said. “The industry is looking forward to a close association with Destination Gippsland to maximise tourism outcomes.”
