GREAT ALPINE ROAD

BRUTHEN

Only 24 km from Bairnsdale on the Great Alpine Road, Bruthen perched above the Tambo River flats, oozes country charm & historical character. Use the village as a food and wine trail base and head off on the Twin Rivers Farm-Food & Wine Trail delight in the treasures you will uncover.

Weary fortune hunters heading for the gold diggings once stopped here to rest. Today you will find it a great spot to stop and break a journey, whether by foot, 2 wheels or 4; the fork in the road for the High Country, Gippsland Lakes and its Hinterland. Local shops and eateries offer an alternative flavour and a local market on the 2nd Saturday of every month is a must. Take a walk around town or a walk in the wild, as many easy bushwalks start around here. The East Gippsland Rail Trail cuts through the town, so you can stock up on your supplies. Photograph the landscapes of the Tambo River cliffs & flats, the light & colours are amazing.
