FISHING IN THE CROAJINGOLONG REGION

The wilderness coastline of remote beaches and pristine rivers are an angler’s dream. Combine the fishing experience with the fact that most areas are accessible by boat and you have the ultimate paradise location.

Fish offshore from Mallacoota in larger vessels and be rewarded as this is among the best in Victoria for game fishing. If you prefer smaller to medium craft, then the Top and Bottom Lake of Mallacoota and the beautiful Tamboon Inlet will have you hooked. For information on the many boat ramps in the region and public jetties or moorings visit www.gippslandports.vic.gov.au/mallaport.htm
With some restrictions on sizes of catch and types, you should always check local authorities before embarking on your trip.

Stringybark Cottages of Sarsfield have won the Tourism and Accommodation Category of the Bendigo Bank Gippsland Business Awards. They are one of a number of East Gippsland Businesses that made it to the finals stage of the awards, which were supported by East Gippsland Shire’s economic development unit. The other East Gippsland finalists were Vegco for manufacturing and fabrication, Jayco Gippsland in the new business category and Lakes Entrance Waverley House Cottages, also in the tourism and accommodation category. Stringybark Cottages are located on 100 acres in the foothills of East Gippsland 19 kilometres from Bairnsdale on the Great Alpine Road and offer the tranquillity of an eco-friendly private retreat, surrounded by forest and farmland. Judges commended Stringybark Cottages for their environment and sustainable business practices. They were presented with their award at the Presentation Dinner recently held in Traralgon with over 300 attendees. East Gippsland Shire Council congratulate the operators on their achievements.
