Scarecrow Trail
Wednesday, 1 February 2012 to Sunday, 18 March 2012
Individuals, community groups, schools, farmers, businesses, and resource centres throughout East Gippsland are invited to make a scarecrow.
East Gippsland Art Gallery is presenting a regional Scarecrow Trail which will coincide with the Women on Farms Gathering, in Buchan, March 16-18, 2012.
Building a scarecrow is great fun. They can be made quickly & easily out of absolutely anything, or they can become quite a work of art. Lots of ideas on the internet!
If you missed out last time, be sure to be part of the Scarecrow Trail this time - great promotional opportunity for your town, community or organisation. Scarecrows need to be placed within participants boundary, but still visible from the nearest road, from Wednesday, Feb 29 and remain in place till the end of March. All registered Scarecrows will be featured on the Scarecrow blog and in the Scarecrow Trail Guide.

East Gippsland Corporate Teams Triathlon
Sunday, 19 February 2012 to Sunday, 19 February 2012
The Teams Triathlon has been modelled around the highly successful BRW Corporate Triathlon staged each summer in each of the major capital cities. The event attract many participants, many of whom are competing in their first triathlon. The underlying theme to the event is participation, health, team work and enjoyment which is enhanced by many more cheering spectators. The teams triathlon in Paynesville adopts these themes, encouraging participation from the Gippsland corporate sector as well as entrants from outside of Gippsland. The triathlon involves teams of three participants each completing the circuit once. The triathlon features a 300m swim, 7km bike ride and finally a 2km run. The event is aimed at novice entrants who may not have completed a triathlon before but benefit from the support of entering as a team. Staged along the Paynesville esplanade, the event will showcase the region. The foreshore transforms into a triathlon village of marquees, food vendors, athletes and spectators.
