BOATING & SAILING
IN THE GIPPSLAND LAKES REGION

Boats of all sizes and types find their home here. Moored at private jetties outside homes, or bobbing up and down in the water, you can easily see that these lakes and rivers are home to boating. And we like to think we are the most boat-friendly waterways.

Lake King, Lake Victoria and Lake Wellington all offer no rocks or reefs or tidal influence. In other words no fuss boating, particularly easy with the generally light winds experienced on average.

World class boating is right here on the Gippsland Lakes. You can bring your own boat or hire a cruiser, yacht or day boat. Sailing is like second nature here, but you must have some sailing experience to hire a yacht. The conditions are often perfect, which means you will have the wind in your sails as well as your hair.

Venture out on a day boat and be followed by inquisitive dolphins, follow them and you just might find that special spot for a picnic. Make sure that you also head for the Nicholson, Tambo and Mitchell Rivers. Small power boats, cruiser or even canoes and kayaks find these quiet waterways a pleasure. .
